Data acquisition
The HOBO MX2310 is an advanced wireless data logger for simultaneously measuring PAR (Photosynthetically Active Radiation), soil moisture, Electrical Conductivity (EC), soil temperature, air temperature and relative humidity.
By monitoring light, soil and climate conditions with a single system, the MX2310 provides a comprehensive picture of the environment in which plants grow. This makes it particularly suitable for greenhouses, vertical farming, hydroponics, agricultural research and ecological research.
Using Bluetooth Low Energy, the logger can be easily configured and measurement data can be downloaded wirelessly using the free HOBOconnect app.
Optimising plant growth requires insight into the complete growing environment. Soil moisture and temperature are important, but so is the amount of light actually available to plants for photosynthesis.
The HOBO MX2310 therefore combines multiple measurements in a single system:
This enables you to accurately monitor the relationship between light, climate and root-zone conditions.
The MX2310 uses a LI-COR LI-190R PAR sensor for accurate measurements of photosynthetically active radiation.
PAR covers the 400 to 700 nm wavelength range used by plants for photosynthesis. The sensor measures up to 3,000 µmol/m²/s and is suitable for both natural sunlight and artificial grow-light conditions.
This makes the MX2310 particularly suitable for research into light intensity, plant growth and the optimisation of grow lighting.
In addition to PAR, the MX2310 records important parameters in the plant’s root zone.
Volumetric Water Content (VWC) provides insight into the amount of water in the soil or substrate. EC measurements provide information about electrical conductivity and changes in soil salinity.
Combining these measurements can help optimise irrigation and fertilisation strategies and monitor processes such as substrate dryback.
The soil sensor is suitable for both mineral soils and soilless growing media/substrates.
Bluetooth connectivity allows you to communicate directly with the MX2310 using the free HOBOconnect app.
The wireless range is approximately 30 metres (line-of-sight) under optimal conditions.
HOBOconnect allows you to:
Using an MX Gateway and MX Data Plan, measurement data can also be uploaded to LI-COR Cloud for remote monitoring and analysis.
The HOBO MX2310 is suitable for applications including:
