Modbus RS485 to LoRaWAN® conversion

Many industrial sensors, energy meters and measuring instruments use Modbus RTU for communication. The UC100 collects data from these existing devices and transmits it wirelessly to a LoRaWAN® gateway and central platform.

This means that existing equipment does not have to be replaced, while long communication cables or a local internet connection are no longer required. The UC100 therefore provides a practical bridge between conventional Modbus installations and modern IoT solutions.

Connect up to 32 Modbus devices

The RS485 interface allows the UC100 to communicate with up to 32 Modbus RTU devices. Up to 64 registers can be configured for collecting measurements and status data.

The interface supports baud rates from 1,200 to 115,200 bps and includes a switchable 120-ohm termination resistor.

Local data storage

The UC100 can store up to 800 historical data records locally. Data therefore remains available when the LoRaWAN® connection is temporarily interrupted.

When the connection is restored, stored data can be retrieved and retransmitted. This reduces the risk of data loss and improves the reliability of the monitoring system.

Intelligent autonomous control

Up to 16 IF-THEN commands can be configured. These allow the UC100 to perform a predefined action automatically when a specified condition is met.

Commands are processed locally by the controller. The UC100 can therefore continue operating when the connection to the LoRaWAN® network or cloud platform is temporarily unavailable.

Milesight D2D communication

Milesight D2D enables direct communication between compatible Milesight LoRaWAN® devices without requiring a LoRaWAN® gateway.

This direct connection provides low-latency communication and enables local automation. The UC100 can operate as either a Milesight D2D controller or agent.

Easy configuration and management

The UC100 can be configured locally through its USB-C connection. After installation, settings can also be adjusted remotely using LoRaWAN® downlinks.

The Milesight Development Platform supports configuration templates, central device management, API integrations and webhooks. Firmware can be updated remotely using FUOTA.

Flexible power supply and installation

The UC100 can be powered with 5–24 V DC through its terminal connector or with 5 V through USB-C. Its terminal power input includes surge and reverse-polarity protection.

Its compact dimensions and weight of only 32 grams make it easy to install on a wall or place on a desktop.
